The Danwich

Growing up, this sandwich was a special occasion on it's own. He brought this little gem home from the firehouse. For those who don't know, firefighters don't only fight off flames and heat, but they put off heat in the kitchen. These guys can cook! My dad even once worked with a guy who used to be a chef on a Disneyland cruise ship. Needless to say, we ate REALLY good as kids and teenagers and this by far, one of our favorite thing to eat at home.

The Danwich
1 lb. deli beef roast beef
1/4 lb. munster cheese
1/4 lb. provalone cheese
2 green peppers, sliced
1/2 yellow onionis, sliced
1 loaf of french bread
2 pkg. of Au Jus dip

1. Make Au Jus according to package instructions. Add your roast beef to Au Jus and cook for about 8 minutes.
2. While your beef is cooking in the Au Jus, saute your green peppers and onion in a little bit of olive oil. Cook until the onions are translucent and the green peppers are tender.
3. Slice your french bread in half lengthwise and place on baking sheet.
4.With tongs, remove roast beef from Au Jus, and place on one side of bread. Then, add the pepper mixture and cheese on top. Reserve the leftover Au Jus liquid in a separate bowl.
5. Place in broiler for 3-5 minutes, just until the bread gets crunchy and the cheese gets ooey gooey and yummy.
6. Remove from oven and slice your sandwiches.
7. Serve and enjoy dipping your sandwiches into the Au Jus!
